boost is the word. whatever vector, support, application, even system boot, boosts everything. if you have plenty of ram (4gb+), keep 1gb for eboostr and let it handle heavy launches from its memory, if you have little ram and a usb stick, let eboostr handle your files and all your system will be 'lifted'. i've tried running the system without it ("i wanna be free!) but noticed immediately a far less responsive machine. i love my beloved but i like eboostr and hot-dogs.

all these years, i've seen many icon editors, even know people who wrote their own editor when they learned programming. maybe that is the reason, most icon editors are so amateurish, limited and buggy.iconworkshop is one of the very few exceptions to that rule. it is a feature rich, stable and fast paint application, suitable not only to "icon-freaks" but also to logo and user interface designers and developers.i can easily rate it with five.

this program has earned its 5. there is still a learning curve degree to go with it, but it's still nothing like the curve that's on macromedia's. smaller, lighter, easier to learn, and seemingly just as powerful... still quite a bit more advanced than its earlier days, but worth it. my 3, has been upped to a 5

it's up to 4.32 now, and much better behaved.i don't use all the windows configurations, don't see any benefit to it. i use the tree on the left and files on the right, just like windows explorer. the win7 explorer is a train wreck. it's buggy and jumpy, and there is no way to change the bright white colors. that's the main reason i use q-dir, changing color to a soothing light blue.i wish the file header size and position could be saved. i can never see the file size without right-clicking and selecting "size all columns to fit". but i think this is inherited from the win explorer. what a mess.the biggest problem just now is the failure to refresh. when you move folders on the left, they do not show until you press f5 (forced refresh). that's pretty aggravating, and makes me want to go back to win explorer or something else. 1 star off for that.

i used to be a big proponent of filezilla until it was brought to my attention that it will store passwords in cleartext in a file (sitemanager.xml) that any user with access to the machine can harvest. that is bad and the author says it's by design. as a client, it does the job, but for that security hole that is many, many years old, it gets epic fail. if the author ever fixes the security hole, i would be happy to give it 5 stars. but for continuing to make the excuse of "by design", two stars off.

i just installed the 1.9 version, after not using it for a long time, and i really like what they have done with it. it's not perfect, but it has more of the features that i really want then any other dock for windows. if you want, you can set it to function a lot like the microsoft office shortcut bar, only the icons look better.but you can reserve the right side of the screen and choose to have it in front all of the time, so when you maximize a dialog window, it actually stops right at the edge of the dock and does not block it out.i have it on the right side of the screen, and though it does not automatically stretch from top to bottom, you can insert enough separators to make it extend to the top and bottom of the screen if you want.so, i have the windows task bar running horizontal, and the object dock at the far right going top to bottom. makes it look like a mirrored "l" at the edges of the right and bottom of the screen and stays out of the way and does its thing.i like that you can adjust the alignment in very precise increments but also just choose left, centered or right if you want. that level of detailed configuration allows you to line it up exactly how you want, a pixel at a time.i guess the only downside that really bugs me is that it seems to no longer be developed.but it is still free, so it rates a solid 4, imo.
