i have used ps from number 3 up and it is the best. i also have tried other software that do as good but can't quite equal ps. the only reason i give it one star is because the price is just ridiculous. yep, that's why all mine are pirated and i, and people like me, will be blamed for the reason it cost so much. i understand all the hard work and coding that goes into ps to make it what it is, the best, but it is not worth the money. the giant industries and movie makers who use ps can afford the price and i dare say that's why it is priced so high. there are probably millions of graphic art studios that use ps, so why not price it high. it is a five star product with a one star price.

i've been using this for years. to paraphrase a popular uk advert "it does what it says on the tin". virtually transparent to the end user. frequent free up grades always seem to overcome the latest copy protection schemes. truly excellent.

no actually apparently your only choice is odd fonts across applications under windows, or, a unified structure that makes everything legible.

agree 100% with -lord- stop this silly quick release monthly beta system & get the program sorted, always something good coming in some future version, at this rate we are going to be at version 32 in a year. as regards the comments from bala which are fair enough but 99.99% of users don't know about esr & those are the people who get their firefox updated on a monthly basis whether they like it or not as they will also have ended up with the maintenance system too.

very interesting. the screenshot certainly looks better. i'm curious as to whether the cleartype can be tuned via the cleartype tuner to better compete with this renderer. i assume they didn't intentionally make cleartype look bad to demonstrate the difference ;).the ironic thing is that cleartype is supposed to be superior to the anti-aliasing in linux and os x. after all, there is a lot of intellectual property backing up cleartype. ok, maybe i just bought into the company line ;p.update: i now tried this alternate renderer. in my case, i find tuned cleartype to be superior. it is probably due to my lcd resolution though, and i'm sure an lcd with a lower resolution would look better. for instance, as opposed to the screenshot, my fonts are rendered more boldly with cleartype than with this renderer. i did not immediately see any way to tweak this renderer, and that's one thing that needs to be added. they need a tuner as with cleartype, and need to be sure to support individual tuning of different monitors.
